Marlow Bottom is a pleasant semi-rural community nestled in the Chiltern Hills. It is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty protected by Green Belt planning policies and has a very strong local community. Marlow Bottom is a much sought after place to live and has one of the top performing Infant and Junior schools in South Bucks (Burford School, www.burfordschool.com), catering for children between the ages of 4½ and 11. The village is represented by two Church denominations: Church of England and the Methodist Church.

The Barn Club and Village Hall are both extensively used by members of the community, being run by Trustees; both buildings have been left in trust to the people of Marlow Bottom. Activities in the Village Hall include a Mother and Toddler Group and one of the two local Playgroups. Other amenities include: a Village Store with Post Office, Newsagents, Delicatessen, Ladies and Gentlemen's Hairdresser, Fish and Chip Shop, Off-Licence, Chemist, Dentist and Veterinary Surgery. T.J. O'Reilly's Public House is a popular venue for social functions.

There are many other activities for children in the village including Beavers, Brownies, Cubs, Girl Guides and Scouts. Once a year there is the Rose Carnival held on the playing fields which is a typical English village fete, complete with sideshows, Carnival Queen, competitions and general all round fun.

The area boasts excellent sporting facilities including the Rugby Club at Gossmore Lane, Marlow, which runs mini-rugby for younger members, numerous Football Clubs with youth sections, two Cricket Clubs, Golf Club at Harleyford, Mens and Ladies Hockey Club, Tennis Club, Rowing Club, and Sailing Club. The Leisure Centre at Handy Cross, High Wycombe has an Olympic size swimming pool. Other sports such as riding, water-skiing and shooting are also in the immediate area.

Comprehensive shopping facilities exist in Marlow and multiple shopping facilities in High Wycombe. High Wycombe town centre is about 5 miles from Marlow Bottom. The M40 motorway access (Junction 4) at Handy Cross, High Wycombe is about 1½ miles away, giving access to Oxford and London, and the M25 at Denham is about 12 miles from the M40 Junction 4. The M4 (Junction 9) Maidenhead is about 11 miles away via the A404 Marlow By-Pass. Marlow has a railway service to Bourne End, Maidenhead and Paddington. Main line train services to London are available from High Wycombe and Maidenhead.
